hi all! hope everyone has had a good week. is it me, or has this week felt a million years long? a coworker and i were remarking on tuesday that we kept saying “earlier this week” … aka monday. i’m lucky enough to have a career where i look forward to mondays, but there are weeks where the world feels like it’s falling apart, and that weighs a lot more heavily on me now that i’m a mom. i said it in this post, but logan has changed me in SO many good ways, including making me more patient and compassionate. being her mom is an absolute privilege, and never have i been reminded of that more than this week.
i wanted to take a minute and thank you for reading. we are all extremely busy humans, with careers and babies and households and families and friends and, well, LIFE. the fact that you take a few minutes out of your day to read this is extremely humbling, and i just want you to know i appreciate you.
in the spirit of treating this like a pseudo-diary, so i can track what happens in my life, [and also what i purchase at target because GOD KNOWS WHERE THE MONEY GOES], i’m going to start adding in my life lately to this weekly post. also, i’m a huge creeper and love to know about the ins and outs of other people’s lives, so, if you’re like me, this addition is for you:
- joey’s back from wrestling camp, yay! it’s been so nice to have him home all week. the guy is ON THE GO all the time, and one of the hardest working individuals i know. not only does he teach, but he coaches. not only does he coach, but he works with his teams and athletes in the off-season [according to the rules, don’t go alerting the MSHSL or anything]. this includes taking them to camp. does it cause a little scheduling gymnastics for our fam? sure. but never in a MILLION years would i have it any other way. joey LOVES coaching, and the ability to work with the kids he has is so rewarding for him. spoiler alert: you’ll likely see more wrestling things float in and out of here, since it takes up a good chunk of our lives. i also used to work in the industry, and i can’t say enough good things about the sport of wrestling.
- we are finishing our basement! we have a walkout that we had our builder finish everything in except for the flooring, because we weren’t sure what we wanted to do. tile is going in as i write, and hopefully carpet in the next few weeks. there’s a huuuge bedroom, a full bath, and a large living space down there. my cloffice will be moving down to that bedroom, my treadmill/workout area will stay down there, we will have family/living space, and best and most importantly logan’s getting a spot for all of her toys!!! right now we have her in the living room, which means she doesn’t play in there at all, because, why play with your own toys when you can CLIMB INTO THE CUPBOARDS in the kitchen? to say i’m excited to have this space finished is an understatement.
- i got to shoot with maria again this week! i am constantly in awe of all of these super-talented, super-motivated people i know, in all areas of my life. i work with maria, and she’s a total #boss in her day job, but to have a side hustle that she is so insanely talented at just blows my mind. not to mention she’s fun/funny, so shooting with her is a ton of fun!
i want to fully acknowledge how lucky i am that i get to sit here and write about the fact that my kid decides she wants to be a human colander and sit in a cupboard, when there are so many bigger things going on in life, for everyone. again, thanks for reading. it means a lot that you decide to spend any energy navigating to my little corner of the internet.
OK, so what did i find at target this week, you might be wondering? look no further! i’m super excited about the jeans i found from universal thread, and i WILL be ordering these shoes in every color. they are so comfortable. [full disclosure: my chiropractor did yell at me for wearing them all day at my standing desk, but i’ll take my chances]
