hi everyone, and happy monday! hope everyone had a great weekend. we had a weekend full of festivities here, with howard lake’s good neighbor days, and spent some time hanging with our legit cool neighbors + friends. not to totally get off on a tangent, because i’ll go into the weekend events more in my tar-zhay thursday post, but i am SO thankful we live in a place where we not only know who lives around us, but like them. joey and i lived in a neighborhood previously where we didn’t meet anyone the two years we lived there. v thankful for the cool people we live around. not just our neighbors [s/o G + M!], but the community. joey and i have now been here for nearly three years, and the people we know in the community are awesome. totally worth my commute everyday. but i digress…
one thing that i get a lot of questions/feedback on is my style and my outfits. i love that you guys are liking that i’m sharing what i’m wearing, so i’ll keep it up! i actually have something in the works that will allow you to get direct info on where i got items; although let’s be honest – the answer is usually target.
one thing i pride myself on is how to style a good pair of tennis shoes. dress them up, dress them down, they are perfect for nearly any occasion. except maybe weddings, at least until you get out on the dance floor. i’ve rounded up some of my fave, reasonably priced, white sneakers below. here i have them styled with a [faux] leather skirt and a sporty tank. the key to styling sneakers is to pick one of two routes:
- full on athletic or athleisure-wear. this one’s a no-brainer; your sneakers are going to go well with whatever you pair it with, if it looks like you could be headed to OTF, SoulCycle, or any other cult fitness class
- nearly everything else. for this, i try to stick to one rule: only one article of clothing that’s fancy or detailed. here, it’s a leather skirt. it could be a dress, it could be a nice top. just don’t go full on fancy with your outfit and wear sneakers, or you are going to wind up looking like the ladies who bus to work, have to walk a mile, and change into their heels at their desk [which, i want to point out, there is nothing wrong with. i just don’t think it’s a look that should be worn ALL DAY LONG]ok, so here’s the full on roundup of all the good sneaks i could find on the ‘net for you. i have a few of these [you’ll see them in upcoming posts!!], and some are sitting in my shopping cart waiting for a sale email to fly across my inbox. ALL of them would have a wonderful, happy home in my closet.
