i’ve been talking it up, posting about it, and now it’s here – my nordstrom anniversary sale picks! now, i did not go the night before early access, and i’m certainly not walking out of nordstrom with bags on bags on bags, but i did want to highlight a few key pieces i recently picked up that i think could add some flair to anyone’s closet.
i went for those steve madden boots, but ended up most excited about the pink j.crew blazer. the jeffrey campbell block heel sandals were not on sale, but they are to.die.for and will be a staple in my wardrobe for years to come. speaking of super awesome nordstrom finds, let’s take a hot second and talk about the dockatot. for those of you that aren’t expecting and don’t have newborn babies, you might want to drop off here unless you are really just curious on why your potential baby would need this floatie-looking device.
when we first brought logan home from the hospital, we were dead set on having her sleep in a crib in our room. that lasted a whole .03 seconds [read more about that here]. being low on sleep, not able to fully sit up thanks to having a child surgically removed from my abdomen, and having read many blogger reviews of the dockatot, i didn’t even bat an eye [maybe they weren’t open at this point] as i rush shipped one from nordstrom the morning after the first sleepless night. we ended up using the dockatot until logan was 8 or 9 months old and didn’t quite fit in it anymore. the best thing about it, in my opinion? i could bring it anywhere. it went from bedroom to couch, couch to bedroom. we also traveled with it a TON. we used it as an insert in the bassinet, in beds with us while we were traveling [i know there are varying opinions on this, but i am #teamsleep for everyone]. both the cover and the insert are washable, and hold up well. our insert is now snuggling a different, new sweet baby, and i’m glad that we can star the traveling dockatot chain! there are a lot of baby sleepers and loungers out there, but after doing some research and reading many, many reviews i felt comfortable that the fabric and the materials used in the dockatot were safe for logan as she slept or laid near us.
if you are expecting, this is one of both mine and joey’s highly recommended items. you can check out the rest of our must-have list here. the dockatot is a little pricier, but the good news is you can get them at target, now! the nordstrom ones include some covers that you can only find there, and are adorable. considering it’s one of the most used pieces, i paid up to have a nice cover that i wouldn’t mind looking at all day long [we have this one]. i’m working on a few posts of items we used for the first few months, the first year, etc., so i’ll be posting those soon! in the meantime, have a great tuesday! š
