before i dive into this, i wanted to call out that i had solicited some advice/recommendations for products on a previous post, and you guys answered! i have added in a beautycounter product into my regular regimen, and will be doing a full post on that in the future! i’ve also been educated on the rodan + fields line, so that’s something i’m looking into as well. in the meantime, there are a few tried and true products that i’ve been using to the last drop and re-purchasing.
makeup remover: i used to be a tried and true cetaphil girl, because at one point my derm had recommended it. since target started carrying the bliss line, though, i’ve switched over my daily cleansing to this makeup remover/cleanser. i usually wash my face in the shower at night, and this does a good job of taking my makeup off without completely stripping my face. the gel texture is also very hydrating, and i don’t step out of the shower with a face that feels like it’s going to flake off [an aggressive, i’ll admit, description, but it’s cold and dry here in minnesota, ya know?].
serum: in addition to the probiotics i take from tula, i also use their serum. it’s a little thicker than some serum’s i’ve used, which is why i use it for a moisturizer sometimes when it’s a little warmer and more humid outside. Dr. Raj, the creater of tula, takes a very holistic approach to skin health, which i appreciate. read more about her here, and the science in the products here.
hyaluronic acid + retinol: these two have been a real game changer, and at a VERY affordable price point. i had been researching for a while for a retinol product that didn’t cost a fortune, because i knew of it’s radical results without any sort of skin damage or downtime. in all of my skincare and wellness research i had also heard about the benefits of hyaluronic acid, so these two items were high up on my ‘must find’ list. i use the retinol once or twice a week, after showering and before i put on my moisturizer. i use the hyaluronic acid in the same way, but on the days i don’t use the retinol [so 5-6 times per week]. the ordinary’s entire website is full of inexpensive, high impact skincare products.
rose facial oil: i mix this with all of my serums before i put on my moisturizer. it’s highly effective at evening my skin tone, and does a good job of removing any eye makeup that might have been left on my face. bonus: i use it on the ends of my hair, both when wet and dry, and it helps tame flyaways and makes my ends look healthy. i have yet to find it online, but just pop in to you neighborhood trader joe’s and find it in the beauty aisle. another inexpensive skin win!
moisturizer: in my never ending quest for accessible, cost effective, and results-yielding skincare, i bring you the neutrogena hydro boost water gel moisturizer. it also has hyaluronic acid in it, so it helps keep my skin moisturized without being pore-clogging or too thick.
with all of these items integrated into my routine, my skin is in better condition that it has ever been before. i was super lucky that during my pregnancy, i didn’t get hormonal acne or anything too intense, but i did start to notice all the fine lines and wrinkles come out more than ever before [that might be the lack of sleep, but who knows?]. since integrating these, i have seen the wrinkles and lines diminish [they aren’t gone, these aren’t miracle products!], and my skin texture is better than before.
i need things to be quick and easy, so nothing i do can be too intense or involved. in an effort to keep adding value, i’ll let you guys know as i start to add more/different products into my routine. all the products that are available online are linked below.
