gender?: boy! i’ve decided that i want to do a grey/forest green theme in his room [he’s actually getting logan’s ‘old’ room once we move her to a big girl one — check out this post for how it looks now!]
cravings/aversions?: overall i’ve been eating healthier the past few weeks, and i can really tell a difference in how i feel. i now look forward to the healthier dinners we are making at home vs. scrounging through cupboards + the fridge for whatever is easy and accessible [usually yogurt + cereal + cheese in whatever form]. we are now making things like elk meat burrito bowls [yup! had that monday night], loaded cobb salads, and our meal delivery dinners [which i always try to order in the ‘healthy’ section]. eat better = feel better. i still crave sugar, so i’ve been using larabars to satisfy that. oh! and freezer fudge. made my second batch this week and added pb2 to it … SO good. recipe for that specific one coming soon!
maternity clothes?: yes, but i wore two pairs of non-maternity jeans in the last few weeks! let’s be honest, i had to wear one pair unbuttoned, and i’m fairly confident i stretched out the other waistband, but whatevs. i can’t bring myself to buy maternity flared denim, so non-mat it was.
workouts?: i woke up SO late on monday and skipped my workout for the first time in, like, ever and my tuesday workout felt SO good. never underestimate the power of a good morning routine … i was off my game ALL DAY LONG when i didn’t wake up in time. as in, went the wrong way to my parking ramp, brain was foggy, etc. i had to take a lot of time to think about things. so you can bet i’ll be waking up to my alarm and getting my workouts in!
weight gain?: 22-24 lbs! i fluctuated a bit last week, and i think some of it is due to me trying to decrease inflammation i have in my back [inflammation = water retention] and some of it was just eating healthier. this is what happened last time i was pregnant, too: i pee on a stick, gain ten pounds, gain another ten+ really rapidly, then kind of just taper off the last half of my pregnancy. not to say i won’t gain more weight – oh no, there’s plenty of that. but if you’re out there and you didn’t gain the perfect “3-5 lbs” in your first trimester, it’s possible to have a healthy pregnancy and gain in a different pattern. [for context, logan weighed 9lbs 9oz at birth … not an underweight babe in the least!]
rings on or off?: on! it’s cold here in minnesota so my fingers definitely aren’t swelling like they would in the summer. i’m still getting the sweet sock lines from my lower half swelling at the end of the day, but it’s not picture-worthy yet.
emotions?: steady! i’m super busy at work, and logan keeps me on my toes at home, so i feel like i haven’t had time to be emotional.
any other weird symptoms?: the back pain is still real … but sleeping with a pillow in between my legs has helped a bit. i have an acupressure back pillow i want to research + use if it is safe for babe. i also have SUPER dry skin right now, but that might be the very, very cold weather we have in minnesota too. i mean, cold. rachel hollis even thinks so.
thanks for following along with this journey! i’d say i’m eternally excited to meet this baby, but i know he’s got a lot of growing to do, so i don’t want to meet him anytime soon. in the meantime, i’ll continue to enjoy his karate chops to my bladder and leg sweeps in my ribs 🙂
