hi guys! i did this a while ago, but since there are some new faces {hi!} and some that are hanging around {hello, and much appreciated}, and i’ve been getting some questions on a few things lately that i thought it would make sense to address on here.
is that your real hair?
yes! i’ve done a couple of things in the last few years to help keep it healthier. before i was pregnant with logan, i was a serial hair-washer. i’m talking, like, every night. i HATED the texture + feeling of unwashed hair, but when i was pregnant with her, i gave myself a quick ‘talking to’ and decided i needed to jump aboard the dry shampoo train, because it seemed like all the moms were using it *crowd mentality, eh?* anyways, all of that to say, depending on how recently my hair has been colored, i go for sure two, if not three [or four, if there’s a weekend in there!] days without washing/styling. i’m down to using heat 2-4 times per week, and due to that my hair stays relatively healthy [for not being a natural blonde]. i also credit my vitamins and probiotics, because it seems like before i took those regularly, even while being pregnant with logan, i did not experience much hair growth. since regularly taking them, i get asked all the time if this is my real hair. seriously. by people on the street. it’s both shocking and flattering. moral of the story: i credit my hair to my vitamins and probiotics. for real.
do you want to be a blogger?
it’s funny, because people i work with actually ask me this a lot. to be honest, no. not full time at least. i guess by default because i have an active blog, that makes me a blogger, but i do not plan on taking this full time at any point. does that mean i don’t want to give it the attention it deserves? not at all! this blog has given me something tangible; something just for me, that i can be really proud of. to be totally honest, it gave me the freedom to let go of the creative areas of my role at my corporate job to truly embrace the finance side and build my career around that, at this point. am i saying never? nope, because if you told me i’d be working in finance at target at some point in my life, i would have told you “never!” so never say never, but right now, my goal is to continue to have this be my space on the interwebs where i can bring content that makes me feel like i’m adding value while still being a corporate #careerlady and working for tarzhay.
best legging recommendations?
see this post. i would still say athleta has my favorite non-prego leggings, but i’m now a believer in the lululemon align legging since being pregnant a second time. seriously … they feel like butter but don’t show every lump and bump. i only say this when i’m totally serious …. worth the price. i’m also super, SUPER excited to try out the outdoor voices leggings i ordered in the last few months. all this to say, i live and die by the athleta powervita leggings, but i am planning on doing a more comprehensive review in the future of a few of my faves. i need to try the zella ones, too.
how did you come up with your kids’ names?
ha! so we have actually had cole’s name picked out for YEARS [before we even thought of having a baby, so definitely pre-logan]. it’s my brother-in-law’s middle name. cole’s middle name is also a family name from my husbands side of the fam. logan’s name is a little more interesting … with a husband [not to mention mother-in-law and sister-in-law] that are teachers, it’s a little harder to land on a name that someone doesn’t associate with one of their students. originally we had a different girl name picked out for logan, and then somewhere mid-pregnancy, joey came home from coaching a track meet and asked me what i thought of the name ‘logan.’ my response? “we have our boy name, and also, this baby a girl ……” since we already knew the gender. turns out there was a girl running track from an opposing school named “logan” and joey liked it. so did i! and the rest is history. so logan’s named after a girl from a nearby school who has no idea our daughter is essentially named after her – lol.
what’s your work/childcare situation like?
ahh, great question. i work outside the home and have a 1 hour commute each way, so i spend a lot of time away from my family. my husband also works *more than* full time [teacher + coach of multiple sports], so we both need a lot of help. first of all, we have an AMAZING daycare provider that logan goes to and loves. we also have great extended family close by that helps us out. we have also known to have a good friend of ours pick up from time to time. when they say it takes a village, it really REALLY takes a village! thanks to all the people that allow us to have careers and be parents. you the real mvp’s [but seriously, you are].
i ended up getting a lot more questions than i anticipated, so i’ll be doing another post later this week! in the meantime, head over to my instagram for some newborn baby spam, if that’s your thing 🙂
