happy monday! we hit four weeks with sweet baby cole last friday, and since i literally googled “what do you need for the first month with a new baby?” with both kids, i thought now would be the best time to share what we have been using nonstop.
this swaddle: i just went and bought another one the other day. if you read any of my past baby items posts, you know that we used the halo swaddle with logan, and it worked really well. well, true to second child form, what worked for logan didn’t work as well for cole. i’m not sure if it had anything to do with him being breech, but he likes to have some arm freedom, and this gives him that without him having his little baby talons out and accidentally scratching his face.
this bassinet: i have raved about it in past posts, but having him at bed-height makes for a seamless in-and-out when it comes to nighttime feeds. you’ll see this show up on my post about c-section recovery must-haves [coming soon!], too, because i credit this bassinet with speeding up my c-section recovery. no joke.
these pajamas: cole lives in these all day long. no joke. we have four and i’m sure you’ve seen all of them on instagram on rotation. they’re soft, easy to get on and off for diaper changes [they have snaps, so you can just open the feet area to get access], and are SUPER cute. you can get them a number of places, in store and online [if you’re local, Pacifier carries them! they ship as well, so anyone can order], but i got the majority of mine off of amazon. there is a pacifier store in the skyway near my office, and i have to power through without stopping in too frequently because it is SO dang cute and i have no willpower when it comes to clothes for tiny humans. none.
target’s nursing rooms: it’s not really an item, per se, but no joke, they’ve pretty much been a lifesaver in keeping my milk supply on point and allowing me to get out of the house and not go absolutely crazy. if you are breastfeeding, i encourage you to pop into one! same goes with nordstrom … they have great mother’s rooms as well. any other good recos for a good nursing lounge? send them my way!
this carseat/nursing cover: i try to avoid nursing in public if i can avoid it [it’s just not my thing. props to you moms who can finagle that, because i’m way too clumsy!], but this nursing cover/carseat cover duo has been GREAT for keeping cole a little more isolated from strangers who like to breathe in his face. i’m not a HUGE germaphobe [just as much as your average mom – WASH YOUR HANDS – but it’s nice to be able to feign that he’s sleeping so that people won’t try to breathe on your baby’s face. oh, and for inclement weather and that kind of thing, too. this amazon find is super stretchy, less than $20, and washes very easily. hashtag winning.
happy monday friends — thanks for following along!
