i know every blogger and their cousin has been blabbing on and on about the nordstrom anniversary sale [and rightfully so – it’s a good sale], but as i was shopping it, i found that i could get a lot of items that were super similar at target for similar quality but with a lower price tag. that’s what today is all about: all the things you kinda sorta maybe want from the sale, but still don’t want to spend the money on.
animal print dress
nordstrom
you all know i love leopard. i have a weird thing about zebra print, though. like, it has to be JUST RIGHT otherwise i’m not interested. i can tell you exactly why that is: when i was a freshman in college, i had a green zebra print pottery barn duvet cover for my dorm bunk bed. my mom had, very nicely, asked me if i though it was a bit much and “a lot to look at all year long,” but i insisted. and, mom, you were right, it was a lot to look at. so much i haven’t had the heart for zebra print since. well, i’m easing back into it, and i figured this super cute wild fable dress in blush/grey is a nice way to go about that. plus, it’s a much less expensive version of all the animal print dresses you’ve seen on the sale. i can’t find it online to link it, but it’s in stores. luckily they also have a number of other fun, different animal print dresses at a fraction of the price.

midi skirt
nordstrom
if you want a flattering, easy piece, look no further than the bias-cut midi skirt. this type of skirt is a GREAT transitional piece; pair with a tank in the warmer months and front-tuck a sweater in the fall/winter. this one isn’t online for me to link yet, but it’s wild fable. i’ve linked a few other target options below:

spanx
nordstrom
i wear a lot of dresses and skirts. and i walk around, a lot. the last thing i want is my dress flying up when i’m on the street or moving from meeting to meeting during the day. i wear spanx or spanx-like shorts under e v e r y t h i n g. it’s so nice having that security, ya know? but i buy mine at target. it means that i can snag a few pair for the price of the real deal, and get same or similar quality. if you don’t wear shorts under your skirts and dresses, you aren’t really able to live fully in said outfit. seriously. they’re a game changer.

waffle knit top
nordstrom
yet again, this one isn’t online for me to link, but it’s likely set in your local target. waffle knit tops have been all the rage for the past year, and for good reason [i even got a couple for my hospital bag + maternity leave!]. this target one is a little longer in the back, which is great for wearing with leggings.
target
judging by my inability to find most of the items i’ve purchased online, target is getting a ton of new stuff in, which makes it super fun to shop in store [at least to me]. i love a good retail experience.
happy thursday!
Thanks much dear one for the shout out over zebra – even though I’ve been taking your fashion advice for decades. Hands down there’s no way I’d be pattern mixing and trying allllll sorts of other innovative things (French nails on my toes?!) without your expert advice
Ever since you were but a wee one. Thanks for sharing more great tips – which will come in esp handy during this transition Month!
