happy monday my friends! i have an incredibly busy week in front of me, so i spent a good portion of my weekend just getting ready for the week so i can show up well for my family, my co-workers, and everyone this week. i wrote this post about how to make your morning easier, but i feel like the prep for monday is even more important. here’s how i prepare for my week and make sure it’s off to a smooth start:
pack your lunch.
even if it’s just for monday, having one less thing to worry about on monday is going to help. i find that monday morning are either one of two ways for me: full of inspiration and motivation, so i can get through a ton of stuff OR they’re hard to get started. either way, by lunchtime, i don’t want to have to think about running around trying to find something. i will usually do either a fab4smoothie + eggs and an avocado or a really good salad. check out this post on how to make the perfect salad.
have outfit options.
my monday outfit sets the tone for my week. when i was in school, i remember learning early on that if i wore an outfit i didn’t like on a monday, it kind of threw my week off. typically i’ll wear whatever i’ve been most looking forward to wearing on monday to set the tone of my week. check out this post for more tips on my outfit building formula.
get up on time; early if you can.
running late on a monday sucks. every monday i find it a little harder to get out of bed since i slept in (until, like 6am ;)) on the weekend, so i try REALLY hard to get up and get moving. which brings me to my next point …
get a workout in.
mondays are hard. but mondays when you have no energy are even harder. get up, get moving. i typically try to vary my workouts on the weekends (walk outside, do yoga, etc.) so getting back to my monday routine of the treadmill walking is something i look forward to. plus, i love to pinterest and get inspired, so i have noticed that i end up with all the creative juices flowing on a monday morning. it’s a recipe for success.
pack your bag the night before.
this is the same concept as having your backpack ready the night before school — nobody likes a scramble, so get it together on sunday. your future self will thank you. this one seems like a no-brainer, but you can bet there have been times i haven’t gotten my things together, and i’m almost ALWAYS late getting out the door because of it.
love what you do.
because i love my job, mondays (and the rest of the week) don’t suck. no matter what you do on your monday, you have to love it. i can honestly say i no longer “live for the weekends” and i can tell you that makes for a great monday.
what else do you guys do that helps you prep for the week? let me know! i’m always looking for ways to optimize my life.
