how to style: blazers, 3 ways

gone are the days when a blazer is a frumpy, ‘must have’ in the office to be taken seriously. now, they’re your best friend when it comes to adding a little extra something to an outfit. don’t get me wrong; they are still the perfect office-wear addition to your closet and can be a staple piece in even the most casual of settings, but they now have a place outside of your 9-5. today i’m bringing you 3 ways to style a boyfriend blazer.

business formal

this is your very corporate environment, but it doesn’t have to be boring. you can wear a blazer with a matching set, but if you want to take it one step further, find a blazer with some unique detail and pair with classics [thinking black or navy pants]. fun takes on blazers include prints, length, or unique additions. let the blazer show your personality.

options:

blazer + work pants + pointy-toed flats + statement necklace or earrings

blazer + sheath dress + booties

business casual

if your workplace is like mine, there’s more of a ‘dress for your day’ mentality, which means sometimes it could be business formal, and sometimes it’s more “dress + sneakers.” i love to take a more formal blazer and wear with a graphic tee + denim, giving the juxtaposition of casual (denim + tee) and more formal (blazer, heels)

options:

graphic tee + raw edge denim + blazer + heels or sneakers (depending on your workplace and day)

denim culottes + blouse + blazer + flats or block-heeled sandals

weekend-wear

by far my favorite, i am starting to love adding a blazer to my weekend wardrobe. i have so many and wear them to work, why not make use out of them on the weekends, too? my favorite way? pair with a long tee and leggings or with a thin hoodie underneath. it’s a fun way to add an unexpected twist to the “leggings and tee” combo that i live in on the weekends.

options:

school tee (for all you supportive mamas out there!) + blazer + joggers + sneakers

leggings + flannel + blazer + “hiking” boots

if you saw my stories this weekend, you saw i was getting kind of crafty with an old denim jacket i had around. i bought a bunch of fun patches + other items on amazon and am planning to jazz up some of my old blazers as well to give them a fun punch and add something different. fingers crossed they turn out!
