it’s been a hot second since i did an updated skincare and beauty routine post, so in lieu of a full breakdown of what i’m doing (i’m still fine-tuning my routine trying to incorporate new and safer products), i wanted to share some of my favorite new beauty items i’m loving right now.
tanologist self tan drops (available at target!)
as a golden-glow lover, i kind of can’t believe i hadn’t used these before. i’ve shared my tried-and-true self-tanning routine, and while i definitely won’t be giving that up, these are perfect for those times when you really need a bit of color more quickly. the neutrogena tanning spray is gradual, and great for maintenance, but if you don’t have time to go get a spray tan (or don’t feel like spending the money), these self-tan drops are a great way to achieve that at-home self-tan we all want, but don’t want to mess up. while they aren’t AS user-friendly as the neutrogena self-tan spray (that’s basically fool-proof), they are easy. mix a few drops with your favorite body lotion and make sure to spread easily. the only place i ended up with any streaks was my ankle, and that was because i was clearly not careful. surprisingly, i did not get streaks anywhere else and had even forgotten that i put it on until i realized i looked a few shades darker when i woke up the next morning. to my knowledge, they did not stain our sheets, my clothes, or any of my children i may have held after applying the drops (#winning). as with any self-tanning product, be sure to wash your hands. i used the medium, but am open to trying the dark to see if there is a difference in tone. find them at target in store or online!
beautycounter charcoal mask
ok this one isn’t totally new, but i have been using it more often than normal with the dry air, cold weather, and my skin breaking out more than usual. you can check out my initial post on it here, but the verdict still stands: if you want to se a mask really work before your eyes, this one is for you.
beautycounter countertime line
in my never-ending quest to take care of my skin now that i’m getting older and seeing the other side of my tanning bed days (i kind of want to shake 18 year old kelsey, but live and learn), i’m focusing on how to really embrace the skin i have while improving the look and preventing more fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. i’ve been using the beautycounter countertime line for a few months now, and have noticed a difference in my skin in a good way. previously i would notice that by the end of the day, my skin would be dry, flaky, and i would notice my wrinkles more than usual (especially around my eyes). now, i’m not opposed to wrinkles. the ones around my eyes really just show how much i smile and laugh, and i have more on my left side than right from sleeping on that side through two pregnancies. my wrinkles make me who i am. but i am not on board for unnecessary aging, my friends, so i’m focused on skincare that is good for me. the countertime line does just that. my favorite product is the serum, which i feel gives me the perfect amount of moisture without being too greasy. i make sure to put it on right after i shower (i shower at night) and it locks in that moisture, which is SO important especially in the cold, dry climate that is minnesota in the months of october – april. to be honest, i like the idea of beauty, but putting together a skin care regimen is daunting to me, so i leaned into the full countertime line to help jump start. full post on my review of it forthcoming, but wanted to share what i am already loving!
quick note on beautycounter: if you are interested, you can head over to beautycounter and purchase directly! if you feel so inclined, go ahead and find “kelsey puncochar” as your consultant, and i would love to follow up and hear your feedback on the products. also, if you have questions on the products, i can put you in touch with someone who can answer them 🙂
honorable mention: laneige lip mask
you know those people in your life you have girl-crushes on? not like the influencer ones, with a million followers, but those real life people? the ones that you’ll take their recommendation NO MATTER WHAT because they are so dang nice, down to earth, and beautiful? i have a few of those, and one of them recommended this lip mask. i hate that it took me so long, but i just ordered it and it will be here this week. CANNOT WAIT TO TRY! along with my skin in general, i need to take better care of my lips, and this lip mask (hopefully) going to help me solve the dryness that is these crusty crusts. there’s a visual for you. anyways, can’t wait to try. thanks for the reco, jenny!
