amazon: the drop

i feel like since you guys are my inner circle, i need to share new and cool things i stumble upon. although, i’m sure some of you have already heard of this and i’m just late to the party – that happens often 🙂 anyways, i wanted to share something amazon has been up to (for a while now) that i’m loving: the drop. the drop is amazon’s line that will debut new collections by influencers every few weeks, along with some staple items.

now, i must preface this with i’m a little wary of buying fast fashion on amazon (or anywhere, really) for a few reasons. first, i love the retail experience. i still love a mall, a boutique, and of course popping into my favorite target on a weekly daily basis. i also like that i can walk right in and return anything that didn’t fit, in addition to getting to try it on in the comfort of my own home. i’m not exactly amazon’s best fashion customer because of all of that, plus any quality concerns. plus plus the idea of fast fashion sometimes gives me heartburn for the environment, economy, and supply chain, so if i’m not totally sold on it i won’t partake. there’s the setup.

now, here’s why i love amazon: the drop:

  1. it’s all made on demand. they don’t make it until i order it! that cuts down on waste significantly, and means any leftover pieces that can’t be sold are dumped in landfills. i’m becoming much more familiar with the idea of on-demand creation [hint hint, shop golden thirty ;)] and LOVE the sustainability aspect of it.
  2. it goes fast! there’s a short window to shop it, so you won’t end up with EVERYONE with the same pieces. that’s one area that i grow bored with in the influencers i seem to follow — everyone has the same thing. i love personal style because it’s just that – personal. these are low-key statement pieces i’ll be adding to my closet, but the best part is they don’t break the bank.
  3. if there’s an influencer’s style you really love [what’s up, @somewherelately and @kathleenbarnes], you can now see what they would design. it’s so cool to see someone’s creativity come through in clothing, and i LOVE the idea of partnering with amazon’s enormous infrastructure to create something so supply-chain delicate, if that makes sense. it’s not mass produced, but it’s not the price tag of couture, either. #winning.

ok, so what are my favorites right now? check them out below!
