happy monday my friends! hope everyone had a good weekend. I finished wallpapering the accent piece of my cloffice wall, and let me tell you, it was MUCH easier than I thought. it led to me moving around some of my clothes, which led to me getting the itch to go shopping, which led to me dropping by nordstrom, h&m, and a few other stores this weekend [not to mention scrolling and filling numerous online carts]. here’s what i’m putting on my “keep an eye out for” list:
strong shoulder tops [already purchased]
i can already hear mom mom if i were to call them “shoulder pads” (I know, you guys did it first in the ’80s! 😉 ), and tbh, i’ve always joked about how cap sleeves are NOT flattering, but my love of trends overshadows the fact that I feel like I need to do a thousand push ups before wearing these types of shirts. and to be honest, the best fashion advice I can give is “if you want to wear it, wear it! if you think it works, it does.” OK, now that we got that out of the way, i’m mega into fun, strong shoulder tops this spring. I actually picked up two recently and am pretty excited to wear them as the weather gets warmer.
sweat shorts [already purchased]
the summer version of the sweatpant, i’ve actually been wearing sweat shorts for years. I have two pair from target that have lasted me through two maternity leaves + the years in between, but it’s time I freshen them up. now, the length of a sweat short is SUPER important. I am not a fan of bermuda shorts, but I also don’t want some hot pants. I need the length to be a LITTLE BIT (not a lotta bit, a little bit) longer than fingertip length if I were to let my hands hang down by my sides. this is a really hard length to find, but TRUST that you will be glad you did. you won’t have to worry about looking like you’re wearing either your husbands or your toddler daughter’s shorts. it’s like the goldilocks of sweat shorts length; just past the fingertips is juuuuust right. bonus points for fun colors! tbh i’m probably going to do an entire post on sweat shorts as my supper pick for clothing mvp. as someone who doesn’t love shorts to begin with, these are IT.
easy breezy sundresses
after a summer wearing nothing but loungewear, it’s time to dress it up a bit. i’m ready to wear some sundresses with sneaks, sandals, and heels. basically any occasion.
smocking
I’m noticing smocking [that detail that makes part or all of your garment “scrunchy” for lack of a better term] EVERYWHERE. it is super feminine, and a great way to wear something form fitting while having it be flattering. I am here for smocking [and punch: the outfitter might have a few fun smocked pieces or two coming ASAP! :)]
seriously, the warmer weather is SO welcome in my book. time to make up for not getting dressed up in anything other than loungewear for a year!
