logan’s nursery

logan’s nursery has quickly become one of my favorite rooms in the house, but as she gets older and has more toys/needs more stimulation, it’s about to need to upgrade to a full-on toddler bedroom. before that happens, i wanted to share the nursery i spent months planning and a few short weeks decorating. you see, we sold our old house the weekend we found out we were pregnant with logan, and decided to build in the place we live now. our builders were some of the first people we told we were pregnant, since we needed to add an extra bedroom to the original plan! i remember spending that whole summer and fall pinning, looking at catalogs, and visiting various open houses/showrooms/stores to get inspo for logan’s nursery. my priorities for the nursery were:

  1. it needed to have longevity. i wanted furniture that could grow with her, which means it would have to be double duty. for example, her changing table is an adult dresser. her crib changes into a toddler bed and eventually a queen-sized bed. she has a small table that we can transfer to a toy-room or play area at some point … you get the drift! i didn’t want anything baby-specific, since we would have plenty of that with other items.
  2. it needed to be neutral. this was for a couple of reasons: first, my favorite color is grey. to be totally honest, i’m not a real big fan of color when it comes to decorating, even though i’m getting a little better, given my latest obsession with palm print. secondly, i had it in my head that they were wrong in her ultrasound and she could possibly be a boy [i asked literally the moment the doc held her up she was born to confirm! “is she still a girl?” ha.] and no, that’s not how she got the name logan, that was our girl name.
  3. it needed to be user-friendly. i didn’t want something fussy; rather something that was functional and easy to navigate.

my jumping off point [i feel so HGTV saying that!] was actually this catalog cover from Restoration Hardware. greys with metals [gold/silver/copper], whites and creams. i also knew that i loved the animal head look [i feel so creepy saying that, but peep the pics and you’ll understand]. i ended up getting a few different types, thinking it was going to be an eclectic gallery wall, but i landed on the plush ones for a softer, less potentially-alarming look.

the unicorn was a gift from my mom, who brought it over a few days after we told her we were pregnant. good thing she guessed right and we had a girl, huh? i knew i wanted the ikea dresser for a changing table, although i think i burned up any goodwill i had banked with joey in getting that set up, since it took him longer to do that than for them to build our house, i think. SO MANY PARTS, SO FEW DIRECTIONS. the rocker and crib were both target. a year and a half in and all of the big pieces have held up well. the rest of the pieces came together pretty quickly, mostly thanks to the amount of time i had spent pinning while our house was being built. we ended up moving in 2ish months before logan was due, so i had plenty of time to get settled.

i’ve included links below for reference, and in the case that i couldn’t find exact i linked similar. everything i’ve linked i would recommend. it’s all held up through plenty of spills, messes, and watermelon-juice fingerprints. overall, i just love how her nursery turned out! she’s not even 18 months old, and it has definitely grown from a room to just house her baby stuff, to a place where she sleeps, to now a place where she plays and we read her books before bed each night.

feel free to reach out with sourcing/idea/any questions! you can comment here, email me, or just leave a comment on my most recent instagram. i’d love to chat!

have a great week, peeps!
