#babypunch 2.0 : 13 week bumpdate

who knew?! i did the math, and i was prego here

alright! cat’s outta the bag! we are pregnant, and we are having a boy. idk about you, but i’m a huge [HUGE] creep and love reading other people’s bump updates [from here on out called a “bumpdate”], even if i’m not prego. if you are not here for it, feel free to check out how i get collagen into my bod sans needles or some of my other style or wellness posts. for those of you here for all things pregnancy [including the non-glowy, crying at pitch perfect music videos parts of pregnancy], welcome.

i’m going to try to make these regular, since for personal reasons, i like to track this. i always swore i’d remember everything about being prego with logan, and i remember nothing. not a thing. so this is going to be my virtual diary so i can remember these things when i’m giving other pregos unsolicited advice.

worth noting that this is at the end of the day, so that could very well be a food baby. also, notice the obligatory hand-on-belly … ha!

how far along?: 13 weeks! woo for the second trimester!

physically, how are you feeling?: when i take my unisom + b6, great. when i miss my set times by even 30 minutes, i’m sick as a dog. i still get sick most days, but it’s usually at night. i’m also getting lightheaded and out of breath randomly, which is super weird. i’m very, very grateful though, because it could be SO MUCH WORSE. also whoever figured out unisom + b6 should win a nobel prize, because the combo is helping pregnant women everywhere function.

baby bump?: i think so, but everyone else is very kind and says “you can’t even tell!” part of that is because i’m, like, ten minutes pregnant, and part of that is because if you wear mid-rise pants, it cuts you off mid-waist and makes it hard to tell. smoke and mirrors, people.

gender?: it’s a boy! yay for blood tests that let scheme about nursery decor so early.

cravings?: red meat. i legit was overcome with a craving for a hot ham and cheese sandwich at 8am the other day. i HATE hot ham and cheese. chicken makes me gag for the most part, but i’ll eat it because protein is important. cereal, too! i haven’t had cereal in years and so far i’ve gone through two boxes of life and a box of cinnamon toast crunch.

emotions?: i’d say stable, but who knows? ask my husband. i did catch myself tearing up during youtube videos of pitch perfect finales this week, but i can’t tell if that’s hormones or just because i’m the kind of person that really likes when  teams/organizations that deserve to win, win. because i’m pretty sure i cry during sporting events + games ALL THE TIME. #funfact

maternity clothes?: just bought a bellyband, which i never used the first time around, but i haven’t opened it yet. i don’t want to jinx it, but i’m still in my regular pants, although not for long.

dirty mirror + laundry basket = real life. worth noting that i have some scar tissue on this side from my c-section, so the bump looks bigger from that angle right now. baby or burrito?

workouts?: still walking everyday! i’m not standing at my standing desk, and sit a lot more, but i prioritize getting up in the morning for my treadmill workouts. i also {try} to still do my 100 push ups per day, although i’ll have to start modifying those so as not to mess up my stomach muscles even more.

weight gain?: let’s call it ten pounds, give or take. depends on the day and how much peanut butter i got up and ate when i was starving in the middle of the night. i’m trying not to let it annoy me, because my weight gain slowed down in the middle/end with logan after i had gained a lot right away [and i ended up gaining 35 on the dot with her]. trying to give myself a little more grace this time.

i don’t think there is much else to note, yet, other than my husband cracked me up the other day when someone asked how i was doing and he said “i feel like you are not as tired this time around!” no, joey, i just don’t have the option to go to sleep at 6:30pm with a toddler running around. it was cute. “cute”

no, all kidding aside, we are so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring another tiny human into the world. logan is such a gift, and having another one is just going to be an even greater gift for our family. i knew i was never done at one, so we will see how complete our family feels once he gets here. until then, i’m going to do my best to kick back, relax, and -ha! i’m going to do my best to hold on and really enjoy this journey as a family of 3 and a half.

happy wednesday! thanks for taking the time to stop by and read. as always, feel free to reach out with questions!

Little tip for the queezies. I would get a bottled water and a sleeve of saltines and have it on my bedside, the night before. In the morning, before my feet even touched the ground, I’d have 5-6 crackers and a drink. I had no issues with morning sickness. Cravings were hotdogs and then, ice cream in the evenings. Total pounds gained 47. Yikes! (I think it was all the ice-cream). Couldn’t exercise, had a softball sized cyst in competition with Remington for Utero space…but Remi won out! Very excited for you and Joe. Look forward to your updates.
