how i could tell i was pregnant + the prenatal i switched to

baby #2! how crazy is that?! here’s the thing … i could kind of tell when i was pregnant. like, right away. since i’ve been on this wellness journey, i’ve really gotten in tune with my body, and some of the slightest changes are detectable. here are a few of the key things that made me question:

  1. we were not not trying. so that should have been my first clue.
  2. i got hormonal acne! that rarely happens anymore, and only around my period. i had two skin flare ups that were there to stay.
  3. i had 2-3 lbs i just couldn’t shake. i fluctuate anywhere from 1-5 lbs on any given day, but i was up a few pounds and could tell something was different. this happened the first time around, too.
  4. i was crying! i really don’t cry that often, but i cried at work, i cried at some country song that made me happy cry, and i cried about how cute logan is. for real … that should have been a dead giveaway.
  5. i just had a feeling. it’s so weird, because i had taken a couple of pregnancy tests that were negative before i got the positive. i just had an inkling, though, even though i didn’t quite let myself believe it.

honestly, i think a big part of why we got pregnant as quickly as we did this time is because i have been taking my vitamins religiously. like a ritual, you would say [ba dum, psshhhh]. i’ve talked about how much i love my ritual vitamins here, here, and here. imagine how excited i was to find that they had come up with a pre-natal! i was fine continuing to take my existing vitamin + a prenatal, but if we can eliminate one thing i’m putting in my body and combine the two, let’s do it. i’ve had such good results with the daily vitamin, i immediately switched my auto-order to the prenatal. i have only been taking it a few days now, but will report back on if i find any detectable differences in the two. i absolutely love the science behind ritual, plus it was started by a woman who couldn’t find a prenatal she was 100% on board with. i can get behind that. the best products are created by people who were filling a gap in their daily lives. if you want more on that, check out julie soloman’s podcast from last week … mind-blowing!

the other factor that i believe really played into how quickly we were able to get pregnant was the fact that i wasn’t stressing about it. i feel totally lucky + blessed that, at both times in my life so far, i have been in a really good place career-wise, family-wise, and overall mental and physical health-wise. i always said “if we are lucky enough to have another” because i never EVER want to take it for granted that we have one beautiful baby, let alone another one on the way! being in a good head-space not only allowed me to be appreciative of the pregnancy, but to really appreciate logan in a new way — as a future big sis.

i’m rambling, but if you can’t tell, i’m incredibly grateful. i’m grateful for the ability to get pregnant, be a mom, and to really enjoy this time in my life. i’m thankful for my and my family’s health, and the fact that we get to do this all over again. i also wanted to take this moment to say i’m grateful for YOU! the fact that you are reading this right now and taking time out of your day to spend a few minutes on my little corner of the internet, well, that’s incredible to me. that makes my day. so, thanks!

have a great short week. i hope you get to spend it eating delish food with fam and friends you enjoy.
