december intentions

focusing on enjoying time with my fam and not getting caught up in the chaos is my number one intention this month.

i feel like i should be saying “how is it december?!”, but when i look back on all that 2018 has brought, it feels so full and i can understand how we are almost in a new year. 2019 has some really great things in store, and i’ve accomplished some goals in 2018 that i’m really, really proud of. more on that later this month, but i wanted to take today to share with you guys [and to hold myself accountable out in the open!] my intentions for december. i’m calling them ‘intentions’ and not ‘goals’ because i don’t want a kind of pass/fail mentality. for me, an intention is a tweak i can make to better my life, bit by bit. without going on any further, here are my december intentions:

be patient: with everything in my life. traffic, my husband, logan, my dog, my body, etc. i want to practice patience with my family because they are the ones who are here for me day in and day out, and with every area of my life because nothing good comes from getting anxious and upset about things out of my control. i equate patience with contentedness, and i want to focus on being content. which brings me to my next point …

be content: this is the season of “give give give, have have have.” instead of focusing on the “things,” i want to focus on being content with what i have, most importantly the people in my life. so yes, while you will see me posting gift guides and suggestions on here, since giving is a love language of mine, know that i’m not going to stress about finding the perfect gifts for my loved ones, and instead know that the gifts i find are picked with love, and more importantly i can give them time and my best self.

go easy on myself: this pregnancy feels a lot slower than my pregnancy with logan, and instead of beating myself up, i want to focus on being grateful that my body can not only sustain this miracle [i do NOT take that for granted], but also the busy, full life i have.

add in strength exercises!: this one gets an exclamation point, because i literally did ten minutes of a thirty minute strength workout the other day and was sore for a week. i need to get muscle back, since i have like, zero muscle tone anymore.

prioritize healthy eating: it’s the holidays; not-so-healthy food is everywhere. i want to continue to feed both myself and this little guy the best choices possible.

lean in at work: for the past 6+ months, i had been working towards a promotion. i got said promotion [yay!] in november, and i want to now lean into this new role even harder. i really, truly love what i do, and getting the opportunity to do even more of it means that i want to bring my best self to work everyday. it’s a holiday month, but i want to make work a priority.

lean in at home: winter is also a busy time for my family [#coacheswife life], so i need to continue to make time for my husband and my daughter. they should be [and are!] top of my list.

figure out a new moisturizer for winter: i’ll be trying some new tula products here soon [just placed my order!]. right now i’m using this moisturizer, and while it works really well, minnesota is REALLY COLD and REALLY DRY. i’m excited to try this and this.

i love love love this time of year, and i think with a calmer, less frenetic mindset, i’ll be able to enjoy it even more. top exciting things i’m looking forward to? christmas with logan [she’s SUCH a fun age], holiday parties [our neighbs have the best theme party this year!] and an ultrasound for #babypunch2.0 right after christmas. oh, and wrestling! i’m so thankful that joey has a full wrestling room this year [trust me, not something we take for granted]. it also makes for more competitive duals, which is a million times more fun to watch. here’s to a great december!
