mother’s day gift ideas :: part II

jewelry

i did an entire post on my new, favorite piece of jewelry last week, but i think jewelry is such a great way to show your thoughtfulness at ALL price points. [check out my post on working with loch jewelers — for real, such a great experience!] a couple of other places i like to look to find unique pieces are nordstrom [love all of the kendra scott + gorjana pieces] or kate spade [bonus if you have an outlet near you! they always have AMAZING jewelry].

photos // albums

in today’s day and age, with everything so digital, it’s pretty cool to have physical pictures around. i started putting together photo albums after having logan, which is such a fun project to work on. i’ve used shutterfly in the past, but am working on some chatbooks for myself + a few other leading ladies in my life

shoes

while i know this is only applicable to certain types of women [those that love shoes and are easy to buy for – ha!], i have a thing for buying shoes for gifts. they’re sentimental AND practical, if done right. i’ve taken to making it a ‘thing’ to try and find a special pair of shoes for my mom for christmas every year, and mother’s day is a great time to gift them as well. sometimes it’s fun sneakers i know she will enjoy; other times it’s fun and unique work shoes she can wear since she dresses way cute for work. regardless, it’s always like a gift to myself to get the opportunity to try and find some fun shoes. it doesn’t sound super ‘traditional,’ but if there’s a mom in your life that likes to workout/wear athleisure [ahem, yours truly @joey], a cool pair of nikes is always sure to be a hit. again, not a traditional mother’s day gift, but so fun and thoughtful!

one of the ‘new mama’ baskets i put together for a girlfriend last year

baskets

ok so hang with me on this one: i started this thing when my close girlfriends had babies and made them a “mama” basket, because everyone brings baby gifts and typically people kind of forget about new mom. i would put comfy lounge pants, lactation cookies [if i knew they were nursing], extra long cell phone charger cords, snacks, etc. #allthethings i wish i would have had close by but didn’t as a new mom! that got me pretty jacked about putting together fun baskets for those loved ones in my life. one idea i had? a #fab4smoothie basket, with all the fun dry goods + a neat smoothie cup/straws that one might want for that. another idea? for those always “on the go” moms of toddlers, put together a basket of the handy things you would want in your diaper/’go’-bag. career mom might love a cute basket of protein bars, a starbucks gift card, and cute stationary. see where i’m going with this? the possibilities are endless!
