hey guys! i’m sure you’ve seen by now, but our sweet little baby joined us last friday. today will be my last “bumpdate,” so many thanks to those of you that followed along with this pregnancy 🙂 i’ll have a full birth story in the next few weeks, but i wanted to share some of the questions we have been getting today:
how is logan doing?: she’s got a lukewarm interest in baby cole, but getting more interested by the day. she has been SO GOOD considering it had to be a totally bewildering few days for her — staying with nana and grandma, but visiting mommy, daddy, and baby cole in the hospital. we are working on a new routine, but it’s going to take a little time!
how was the delivery?: we had a planned c-section [read more about that decision here], and i am a wholeheartedly confident in that decision. little did we know until the doctor started to get cole out, he was breech! not only breech, but he had the umbilical cord wrapped around him a couple of times. all that rib pain makes sense … there was a little head tucked in there! he actually got stuck and they had a relatively hard time getting him out, but it all ended well [and took *maybe* a minute longer than it normally would to deliver a c-section baby]. i was confident in my decision to have a c-section before going in, but this just sealed the deal that i made the exact right choice for me and my baby.
what’s the recovery like this time around?: so far it’s been much easier than my recovery with logan. i was in labor with her for 30+ hours before we had an emergency c-section, so there was all kinds of things that needed to heal. this time, i keep comparing it to that, so it seems so much better. i’m definitely sore, but i’m taking it easy when i need to.
how’s nursing going?: like logan, cole has been a champ and known exactly what to do. my milk also came in day 2, so that has been SO helpful in keeping him content. i’m very, very thankful for this because a hungry newborn is not a happy newborn.
sleeping?: well, i can now sleep on command, and cole sleeps a ton! he’s so chill. i do think he has his nights and days mixed up, though, because our first night home, he was up pretty much all night eating and just making noise [not really crying for the most part, but def not being restful]. he’s been pretty chill during the day, only waking up briefly to eat, so that’s making life a lot easier on us.
we are feeling so grateful and thankful that we have not only one, but TWO beautiful, healthy babies home with us. thanks for following along on this journey!
