we officially made it a week and kept this tiny human alive! by the time this post is published, we will have aaaalmost made it a week at home. i wanted to share all of the items that have made this last week a little bit easier [while it’s all fresh in my mind]
dockatot: we have our dockatot in our bassinet [i know, mixed reviews from health care providers, but we checked it out with our doc/nurses and feel really good about our sleeping situation]. we also take it out and move it around the house with us while we are doing things in other rooms, and it makes it so much easier to tell logan she can’t touch anything inside the dockatot without mommy or daddy there. aka the baby.
halo bassinet: i really never thought i was going to love a bassinet so much, but i can’t say enough good things about the halo bassinet. the first night i leaned over to grab him out, expecting serious incision pain and realized/remembered that the side drops down so you can get baby in and out easily … i can’t tell you how pleasantly [re]surprised i was!! seriously. i know it’s the whole reason i bought it in the first place, but in the middle of the night i was waiting for that pretty sharp pain that comes from trying to get a kid out of a bassinet with a fresh incision and … nothing. it was great. it’s also handy to have it swivel so i’m not trying to climb to the end of the bed and not bump it as i get up to use the bathroom for the millionth time at night.
halo sleepsack: geez you would think i’m sponsored by halo at this point [i’m not, but hey they are based here in minnesota!]. we used a number of different swaddling apparatuses with logan, and the sleepsacks were hands down our favorite/easiest to use. kid number two, and we still haven’t mastered the art of the swaddle, so back to the sleepsacks we go. not to mention, the hospital uses them and gives each new baby one, so it’s a win-win in my book. we have both the fleece and the warmer-season ones, depending on what the weather is like inside/outside [may in minnesota means it’s snowing one day and 80 degrees the next. no joke].
boppy + boppy lounger: both are from when we had logan, but they’re both incredibly useful. i use the boppy when i’m nursing [we brought it to the hospital, and i HIGHLY recommend doing that because it’s hard to prop baby up post-delivery] and we have cole hanging in the boppy lounger where ever we are if we don’t want the dockatot out of the crib.
there’s a million other things that we have been using/loving that i’ll round up in the future, but if you are a mama and looking at putting some bigger-ticket items on your registry, hopefully this gives you some more ideas!
thanks for reading! more baby goodness coming later this week, along with tarzhay thursday [um, the vineyard vines line?! so good.] and a recipe or two?! check back each morning for a new post! otherwise i’ll just be sharing some instastories of the sweet new babe, and maybe his adorable and sassy older sis. happy monday!
