how i use my apple watch

ok, first of all, does anyone else call it an iWatch? just me? anyways, like i mentioned in this post i am a total creep, in the sense that i love to hear about how people live their lives. i wear my apple watch all the time, except when i’m sleeping/showering, so i figured i’d give you the rundown on how i do [and don’t!] use it:

do: step tracker – track those steps, yo! i have a minimum of 10k a day to hit. i walk for half an hour [almost] every morning, so that gets me right around 4,000, and on workdays, just running around downtown will get me the rest. on days off, chasing after logan will get me there, too, but i still have to try a little bit harder! seriously, i can’t say enough about walking. it helps me stay active, especially since i just can’t bring myself to run, and it’s easy to do, anywhere. my fitbit used to vibrate when i hit 10,000 steps, and i’ll be really honest – i miss that. like, a lot. regardless, i love that my watch helps keep me accountable

do: ‘close the rings’ – if you have an apple watch, you know what i’m talking about. there are ‘rings’ that correspond to number of hours you stood up/got active, total calories burned, and active minutes according to the goals you set. it’s almost like a game now, and i HATE going a day without closing all of my rings. the stand hours one is easy – i’m up early with the baby [she’s 17 months, i realize she’s not a baby, but she’s still my baby :)], i have a standing desk, and i’m usually pretty active after work.

do: tell time – this is a weird one for me, since i’ve never been a big watch-wearer, but ever since i started wearing my apple watch, i constantly use it to check the time vs. a clock or my phone. i find myself checking my wrist when it’s not on, so clearly i’m using it for what it’s true purpose is.

don’t: get texts/calls – i don’t have my watch hooked up to my phone! crazy, i know, but i want the ability to be disconnected from my life if i truly want. rarely am i in a place where i can’t have my phone, and if i am, i want to be truly disconnected. here’s looking at you, yoga class.

don’t: any other fancy apps – in all honesty, i really just use my watch for a watch and a fitness tracker. could i be using something else? sure, but i have my apple watch, and i like the look [and the changeable bands!].

there you have it! overall, i recommend having something that helps you check where you are at during the day, whether that’s steps, or minutes of activity, or really whatever benchmark you want. i forgot to mention, one really key reason i wear the watch is because i have a pretty legit tan line from the watch rubbing my spray tan off. so there’s that, too.

one last thing – what do you guys want to see/hear more of?! leave me a comment on this post, or go comment on my most recent insta. of course, you can totally dm me, too!
