what to do when you feel uninspired

i’m tired, you guys. not just like “didn’t get a full 8 hours tired.” no, i’m tired at my core. while i honestly think this winter has flown by [i’m one of the few that felt like january and february went by in a blink!], those winter months after the holidays are probably my family’s busiest time of the year. joey’s deep in the throes of wrestling season, it’s harder to get outside, and everyone’s sick. i. am. tired. and with that sometimes comes a lack of inspiration. so today, in light of the wrestling season wind-down, impending spring, and things heating up in my own life [shop coming soon!], i’m sharing what to do when you feel uninspired. at least, what i do when i feel uninspired.

fuel your body well

i shared in yesterday’s post that i haven’t been treating myself the best (or maybe i have been treating myself too well… #treatyoself). i can tell when i’m not in tip top shape, or even running at partial capacity, and it’s catching up to me. i’m taking the month of march to really hone in on what makes my body feel good, because i know it affects my mind. one way i’m implementing this? i’m drinking a celery juice every morning on my way to work. now, i know that it may or may not be the be all end all that some say it is, but it’s full of vitamins and minerals, so that can’t hurt, right?

break a routine

i LOVE a good routine. like, my morning [should] work like clockwork. so much of my life, though is routinized, and i find that sometimes even breaking that routine helps put me in a different mind space. one way i’m implementing this? i’m changing up the order of my errands that i usually run on sundays. i’m still getting all of the same things done, but by changing up the routine i’m recreating pathways, both physically and mentally.

pause

when i pause, i’m able to take in what’s going on around me. from that, i draw inspiration and can notice things i may not have noticed before. one way i’m implementing this? putting my phone away when i’m walking from meeting to meeting or building to building. i honestly get so inspired when i look at what everyone else is wearing/doing/eating, and getting off of my phone is going to help me do that.

write

i actually started writing this post in a place of desperate uninspiration, and through doing so, found myself renewed. sounds crazy, but just writing things down, whether you are doing morning pages, journaling, taking notes, or writing a handwritten card to someone can really help you get unstuck. one way i’m implementing this? i haven’t yet started, but want to start doing morning pages. probably should have made that one of my march intentions, huh?

create

creating jewelry has been a huge release for me, and something I can do with my daughter
gucci, but make it custom.

this one is really hard for me, since i have a similar problem to crafts as i do to a lot of other things — “what if it isn’t perfect?” creating shop golden thirty, custom items for the store and for friends, and just creating in general has unlocked more in me than i ever could have realized. i totally forgot how much i miss making something. i encourage you to try it – paint, draw, write, … just make something. one way i’m implementing this? creating custom, curated items for shop golden thirty, of course!

i’d love to hear from you – what do you do when you feel uninspired? how do you get unstuck?
