master bedroom refresh project

hey friends! thought i’d pop in here today to share what’s new around here. nothing super exciting, but i’ve been channeling all of my anxious, try-not-to-leave-the-house energy into projects and creating and wanted to let you guys in on what we’ve been up to. we are FINALLY going to upgrade our master bedroom furniture, and along with it, the look and feel of the space.

master bedroom refresh – the background

there’s nothing really ‘wrong’ with our master bedroom, but with two kids and a dog, it’s time to graduate from the queen bed that joey has had since … middle school? [i’m not sure, but it pre-dates me, and we have been together for almost 15 years] to a king that can fit the whole crew. plus, we are getting old and our backs are bad 😉 as with any project [kitchen updates, basement, etc.] I always ask joey for a budget so I can have a little fun trying to get the look I want for the best price. I came in $1000+ UNDER budget on the kitchen, so my goal is to come in under on the bedroom as well. new bed/nightstands/artwork/bedding … i got a wild hair the other night and started thinking about a wallpaper accent wall, but we will see how far I push it. oh! the one thing that’s thrown me for a loop is that we are trying to do away with as much upholstery as possible, since logan gets SUPER itchy and sneezy when she snuggles with us every night before bed. a combo of upholstered bed, dog, a lot of blankets, etc. make us think we want to do whatever we can to eliminate allergens. I LOVE the look of an upholstered bed, so this one is going to be a little tough for me, but i’ve already found a few solid wood beds I like. here are some inspo pics:

i have always struggled with the area over our headboard, so I like the idea of the tall mirrors flanking the sides of the bed to frame the headboard space and adding artwork
I love the idea of campaign nightstands and for some reason am kind of stuck on the color blue. it might mean a DIY for us, so let’s see if that actually happens 😉

it’s funny, because in my digging for inspo for this bedroom refresh, I came a cross the home tour that inspired our current bedroom. still love it.

here are a few more bedrooms I love [notice a theme? I REALLY love a good upholstered bed <3]

i am actually thankful to have this project to focus some of my energy on while we’re staying home. question: do you guys like the home and decor posts? seems like it, and i’m just sharing what’s relevant in my life right now, but i’m likely going to continue as we continue to do random little projects around the house. i’m finalizing my plan and will share on here once we have it all together. thanks for reading!
