how my personal style has changed recently

i’ve come to realize that during this stay at home order and the subsequent working from home i’ve been doing, my personal style has not only changed, but been challenged. i was one of those people that was all “rah rah 2020! best year ever!” and to have the first half go the way it has has been a little jarring. that being said, it’s time to move from this ‘survival’ mode to a thriving mode, and my personal style is moving along with that. after some reflection, here’s how i’ve been shifting my personal style since working from home:

i’m leaning towards tried-and-true favorites

when i was going into an office every day, i was more apt to try new trends and wear things that i know i might not wear again. now that i’m at home most of the day, i’m leaning towards favorites and things that are more ‘uniform’ like. think crewneck sweatshirts and skirts/joggers, tees with jeans/leggings. it’s a little more casual, but for some reason i just can’t bring myself to get AS dressed up since nobody except for my dog and the UPS guy are going to see me. ha! it is nice to be able to wear more of my casual clothes that i wasn’t wearing before.

layers in the summer

i’ve been wearing layers layers layers all summer because my basement (where my cloffice is) is cold! #firstworldproblems, amirite? but this means i’m getting more use out of my sweatshirts, sweaters, and jackets.

custom and creative

if i’m going to wear something, i want it to be cool and custom. i love a good detail, and bonus points if it’s something that can show up on my zoom video screen and spark a conversation. some of my favorites are the pieces that i created for the GIRLS CLUB collection (mostly sold out, but another round coming soon!) and have been working on some STATEMENT SPORTSWEAR pieces as well as more custom, vintage sweatshirts. check out more here, and make sure to get on the email list to get first access. a lot of pieces are selling out before they ever hit the site!

i’ll be honest, i’m feeling a little lost in the way of my personal style. i love getting dressed up, and not being in an office has taken away that motivation for me. setting small goals (no athletic-wear all week, wear something custom all week, etc.) is helping me to get my groove back.
